Locking Mechanisms

LINER LOCK: A leaf spring-type liner is adopted within the groove of the handle that snaps into position under the blade when it is deployed. The lock is released by pushing the liner to the side, to allow the blade to return to its groove set into the handle.

MONOLOCK: A weight-conscious update to the liner lock, which works in a manner similar to the prototype but uses a partial cutout of the actual knife handle, rather than a separate liner inside the handle to hold the blade in place.

AXIS LOCK: A patented Benchmade exclusive locking mechanism. AXIS has been turning heads and winning fans ever since its introduction. A 100-percent ambidextrous design, plus outstanding lock-down experience.

BACK LOCK: A conventional locking system that includes a pivoted latch affixed to a spring, and can be disengaged only by pressing the latch down to release the blade.

DOUBLE-CHECK LOCK: A modified locking mechanism first introduced by Sanrenmu in 2008. It provides double check while a knife is deployed as its name indicates. To release the blade, you just pull the trigger on the handle back and simultaneously remove the locking liner off the pivot, which is totally ambidextrous functional and can be easily accomplished by a single hand.
